A Holistic Approach
Drainage Doctor is a total property solution, taking a holistic approach to water and runoff management. All design solutions require a property survey. Surveys can be provided or can be included in the solution.
When evaluating drainage problems on your property, the drainage doctor considers all aspects of water flow: runoff from the street, runoff from gutters, from neighboring properties, underground seepage, and future heavy storm events. By evaluating all water entering and exiting a property, Alan creates holistic solutions to preserve the value of your home.
Alan Ostner, ASLA, PLA
Landscape Architect
Drainage Doctor NWA is owned and operated by Alan Ostner. Alan is a Fayetteville, Arkansas native of 30 years and is a state-licensed landscape architect and a state licensed building contractor. He has 13 years of experience designing institutional and residential sites, including french drains, retaining walls, erosion solutions, lawns, gardens, and landscapes.
He graduated with a BA in English from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN and a BLA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Arkansas. He has worked for Arkansas’ largest homebuilder, Rausch Coleman Homes in the land development division, and for Howell+Vancuren, a regional Landscape Architectural design firm in Tulsa. He sat on the Fayetteville Planning Commission during the record growth in Fayetteville from 2002 to 2008 and twice served as chair. He taught as adjunct faculty at the University of Arkansas School of Landscape Architecture, and the Osher Lifetime Learning Institute.
He currently sits on the Fayetteville Urban Forestry Advisory Board, the Keep Fayetteville Beautiful Commission, is a member of the Arkansas chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and former treasurer, and currently works as president and founder of Drainage Doctor NWA, PLLC in Fayetteville Arkansas. He is a Master Gardener through the Univ. of Arkansas Extension Service and is a member of Rotary International. He is married to Molly Jensen, attends St. Paul’s Episcopal church in Fayetteville, and he and Molly have two children, ages 20 and 13.
