Fayetteville Church
Fayetteville, Arkansas
After
After a careful drainage study, we designed a prayerful courtyard that would allow beautiful flowers and landscaping and would also handle the heavy rainfall that gets focused into this small area. The church’s roof and the surrounding land served as a bowl to focus a lot of rainfall in one spot. We realigned the entry stairs from the southern side to the eastern side to flow with the reasonable foot traffic directions around the church. We installed a seating bench, outdoor lighting, and electrical outlets for small music or PA systems with a possible small wedding. The space now serves as a multi-use space for many outdoor church gatherings while offering landscaping and a full drainage solution for ease of mind.
before
This courtyard space was under-utilized and had a major drainage problem. Water was dangerously close to entering the church during heavy rains as a lake formed outside the building. The choir rehearses behind the large glass windows and was uninspired with the view.
